Dreaded Emissions - advice on ECU

well its that dreaded time here in maryland... emissions inspection!

anyhow, I have a 2001 R and a 98 JDM spec R motor with obd1 p28 ecu. I am aware of the oil pump, vtec soleniod etc, but as far as ecu's go what do I need to run? can I get a civic SI ecu and use this or will I have issues with the immobilizer etc?

Do I need a OBD2a or OBD2b ecu?

Any help would be Great!

01 would be obd2b, you can use an SI ecu..

X2... No issues with this ecu.
