Default 96-00 D16Y8 Motor Mnts

Way too much motor movement in my 99. There is at least 3/4" movement at the gear shift. After checking all the motor mnts it appears they are fine and this is normal. They are a lot softer than the 92-95's. So does anyone have a source for some mounts that are a little bit stiffer and suitable for a daily driver that will reduce some of this movement? Any kits out there that will retrofit it back to the 92-95 mnts? Thanks

Why does this movement bother you? Are you affraid of improper axle alignment messing something up or something?

Energy Suspension inserts will help decrease movement at the cost of some vibration/noise.

Well after owning about 15 cars with manual transmissions over the past 30 years I've never seen this much motor movement and discovered it was normal. It's hard to imagine that this good. But you tell me -- Should I be worried about it? Are those CV joints going to last? How about the connection of the down pipe to the cat. It's a DD so maximum performance doesn't matter. What do you think?

Try the Energy Suspension mount inserts, I bought a set (from Summit I think) for about $35. There is a noticeable difference during clutch engagement, but I don't know how much movement they decrease.

How were you able to measure engine movement during clutch engagement?

^TTT^

I'm feeling it on the gear shifter as I accelerate and decelerate. When I push in the clutch to shift, the engine moves on the mounts and I can feel the movement on the gear shifter. It's quite disconcerting. It's a general problem of front wheel drive cars with transverse engines. My cars throttle butterfly also appears to stick in the throttle body a little bit and along with the engine movement makes for less than satisfying shifts. Race people want to remove all this movement and are willing to live with the vibration, but for me, there was nothing wrong with the system in the 92-95's, so why did they have to mess it up. I'm surprised that with all of us trying to turn a girl car into a guy car that something between race and street isn't available. I'll probably try those inserts.
