will this work for cleaning my iacv?
Yeah I hate to thread jack but I got sick of my car idle surging and couldn't clean the IACV adequetly enough to get it to idle correctly so I bit the bullet and bought a new IACV. The car still idle surges and I have no clue why. Is there some kind of idle screw to adjust? Help please...
do you have the coolant lines ran to the throttle body? if not you have your coolant bypass disconnected. reconnect it and see if that helps.

Hey, Just an FYI for when cleaning the IACV out.
1. use carb cleaner or brake cleaner Reason: they leaves no residue.
2. remove the rubber grommet/seal first. Reason: so you don't dry out the rubber.
3. no need to disconnect the coolant lines.
4. when spraying it out hold the IACV's motor part up so you don't get the cleaner into the motor.
5. also check the passage to the IACV from the throttlebody Reason it can be plugged up with carbon and such too.
6. and last check the gasket between the throttlebody and the intake manifold some gaskets do not have the hole for the IACV passage.
Also note that if the idle setting is too low/high for the IACV to compensate for you might be getting the bouncing idle from this. Make sure you set the idle correctly and use the service connector.

Had the same idle problem everyone talks about. Cleaned out my iacv at least 5 times, and nothing. It turns out my throttle cable was too tight and the tb wasn't sealing tightly closed. I loosened it up alot and the idle found it's spot.
