i have an exedy stage 2 3 puck THICK disc clutch. these are good for everyday street use.
there is also a THIN version. these are recommended for track use only.

Unless by "built" you mean turboed, a stage 2 clutch is overkill and it will just kill your tranny quick. a regualr street/strip disc will work fine for anything bellow 200 WHP.

Pretty harsh engagement, but it holds real well. It really wants some revs before you let out the clutch. My 3 puck has been holding up for about a year and 1/2 of hard driving. I wouldn't recommend this clutch for a mild or stock build.

I used an exedy stage 1 on a mild turbo build ~250whp
The clutch lasted longer than 2 engines and never slipped. I wouldn't go with the 3 puck, unless you're at or over 250WHP.

Some clutches have springs in the center of the plate to help asorb the shock. On a DD setup it is a must. The springs are refered to as a sprung or unsprung hub.
You dont need a 3 or 6 puck clutch. Any stage 1 clutch with a plain sprung hub disc will be fine. You could even go with a stock ITR clutch and not have any issues.

i DD a 3 puck exedy thick in heavy traffic. No problems. Don't listen to these people. It feels just as good as stock and my tranny is fine. the oem replacement is just that. If you're going to do it, might as well upgrade for a few extra $$.

So he shouldn't listen to us because you daily drive your setup just fine? If I daily drive a 200 shot of n2o on my LS does that mean everyone else should? No, it means I'm putting excessive wear on my motor because I dont know what I'm doing, just like you and your clutch.

I daily drive my car and theres no signs of excessive wear on my transmission. First hand experience doesn't count? I guess I don't know what I'm doing. I only put on my trans in and i've been driving on the clutch for a few years.

If you can't drive stick, beat on your trans or drive like a fanboy w/ nos then you'll have wear but its meant to take the extra abuse. I guess Jimmy has some past issues.

People constantly daily aftermarket clutches. I worked at a shop that was a distributor for Exedy clutches. Daikin industries makes the OEM clutch. Exedy is their performance line. The 3 puck clutch was designed to be used daily w/o excessive wear on your trans. It even feels stock but pulls more.

We've never had a problem with them and neither did our customers.

but What does Exedy/Daikin Industries, the OEM clutch manufacturer know? Their clutches blow trans up all the time (sarcasm)

The unsprung clutches will put more stress on your transmission for obvious reasons.

you'll be just fine with the stage 2 exedy clutch....it's gonna be difficult to drive with at first (i say this from personal experience only) but after a short time you'll get used to it and be totally fine. When i first installed mine and drove it down the street i was like "woah, this is nuts"...now i'm in traffic with it everyday and it's no problem.

i would be more worried about the fact of whatever clutch kit you buy being able to hold up to the hp./trq. of whatever build you have

Because the clutch makes my car pull....right. That and you seem to stress about "wear" on the transmission. Nobody's worried about the "wear" that a clutch puts on the transmission....that has virtually nothing to do with the clutch and everything to do with how you drive it and what you're doing with the car. You should switch back to a stock clutch and see just how different they are. Clutch chatter, clutch pressure and the letout are entirely different and while some people are fine driving a "race" clutch on the street (again, just off the engagement and pedal pressure/feel) while others hate it. The same thing goes with motor mounts....some people dont mind extra vibrations. Others dont see that much of an added performance benefit and think the vibrations are horrible. Its all a matter of opinion. I've driven on alot of clutches in my day and the biggest difference I notice is sprung/unsprung.
