Default tein basic coilovers

I want to replace my shocks/struts and also lower my car, so I thought coilovers would be the best way to go... But I daily drive the car. I know tein makes quality stuff so the basic should be the best quality I can get for 800 bucks. But how would the ride quality be? Too stiff and rough for daily driving? Can anyone compare these to the stock setup in terms of ride?

I've had them on my DD since the beginning of this spring and I love them. They're only slightly stiffer than stock and they have quite a bit of lowering capabilities, definately for a DD. I ordered mine from the website in my sig, check them out.

I had these on my del Sol. They were PERFECT for DDing, I loved the ride. I'd totally use them again, if I could afford them.

They do ride well, but keep in mind in order to hit the target price range Tein had to skimp on quality, so the dampeners themselves are not the same quality as their other, higher-end dampeners.

I'll go against the flow and suggest Koni Yellow shocks and Ground Control coil-overs sleeves, or koni full coil-overs that utilize the Ground Controls. Similiar price, but IMO much higher quality shocks than Basics.

I know it's not as cool sounding as the JDM Tiiight Teins, but IMO the Konis will last longer and ride better for longer.

Plus the koni Yellows will also offer stiffness adjustability - something basics do not offer.

Hm Tein does sound cool, haha.
But seriously, I thought Tein would still be good quality even if its their lowest line.

BTW, on springrates.com Tein basics are only 675, and that is awesome. The GC sleeves are 299 and then Koni yellows are 539 here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWD1V
but they don't even say adjustable...

I can't find your location. You say you want it picked up but it would help to say where you are located.

Ok I'm on the other side of the country, so I don't think I can buy yours and pick them up....

Now, does anyone have anything else to say about Tein basics? They are cheaper than GC/Koni..

springrates.com isn't that good any longer. I placed my order a few days ago and they just emailed me saying that Tein changed the MSRP on the basics and now they have to sell them for $780 as opposed to $675. And when I ordered I also got free shipping because it said that, but the guy over there said it was a mistake on the site and it was only meant to apply to D2 coilovers.

It wasn't bogus. I'm sure NBPej1 got them for 675.

So do you have any pictures of your coilovers?

Can anyone compare the skunk2 pro S full coilovers to the tein basics? The basics are about 100 dollars more on ebay. I think I'm just going to buy them brand new off ebay.

I am looking for something under 800. The car is going to be a daily driver. I wanted to find the best deal on tein basics, but I will probably just buy them for $780, thats the best deal I can find shipped. But I found some skunk2 pro-s for $650 shipped, so I was wondering if they were about the same quality as the teins.

You can call them whatever you want. In some cars they are called struts when they are in the front and shocks when they are in the rear.. But what ebay auction are you talking about?

i hate to bring another player into the game but function and form version 1 coilovers are on sale now, less then $600, or you could go all out and buy the newest version 2's, which will put you a little over $1,000. IMO, tein's are amazing quality for the price, but for a few more bucks, i would def go for koni/GC, skunk2 should just stick to engine parts, i have never been convinced by their suspension products.

Thanks for posting those pics donut, but its a little too late. I already purchased a brand new set of basics from a vendor on ebay for 700. Springrates.com was right, tein did raise the MSRP and now the basics are being sold for 900 on ebay. Fortunately, this seller had one more auction at the 700 price so I jumped on it. I was also able to use the 10% discount ebay was sending out through paypal.

lponcian - Haha, yeah its too late to bring another player in the game. But I was never really convinced by skunk2's suspension either. Thanks for reassuring me that teins are amazing quality for the price though!
