Default Confused about GSR motor/tranny

Hey all, im just a little confused as to where my motor came from as i was told at first it was from japan and is jap spec, but now ive descovered its actually a GSR motor swap.
my engine has B18C stamped on it and underneath has 1004XXX on it and my gbox has Y80 on it and the head says P72. and also VTEC kicks in at 4400rpm...

the thing that has me stumped tho is it states the top speed is 130mph or 209km/h BUT i have a speed cut at 180km/h. i wasnt aware that american cars had speed cuts?

A USDM GSR would be stamped B18C1. Both the JDM SIR and USDM GSR used the same (P72) cylinder head. Your B18C is JDM. A USDM ECU has not speed governer. A JDM ECU does at 180 kmh. You can identify a USDM ECU with the P/N. It would read 37820-P72-A##. The A is the key indicator.

You are in Australia, I thought the GSR was a USDM only vehicle.

It should still hit VTEC at 4400 RPM. The cams, head, and intake manifold are the same as the USDM GSR. VTEC is determined by the ECU. Check the p/n.

I think the only substantial difference between the USDM and JDM engines is the pistons, which have a slightly high compression ratio in the JDM engine.

I have a JDM GSR motor. My vtec kicks at like 5k and my secondary butterfly at 6k. The ecu i'm using is a p72-a04.
