Default 98 gsr ef sputters when vtec engages

the engine is a 98 gsr so when i was in the high way i heard a POP noise coming from the engine so the check engine came up i check and it was CEL 22 the pressure switch ....we change the pressure switch.. but when the car is in neutral and i rev it it goes all the way to red line no problem at all.. all normal....but when the car is driving and i hit it once vtec engages it sputters and like it losses power but it wont rev pass 6000 and i have to shift i dont know why...there is no more CEL but is still doing this i took the vtec solenoid off and cleaned it all the screens where clean but still....like a grinding noice almost coming from the engine when its in vtec i havent done a tune up on the engine you guys think the spark plugs or burn oil the cause of this?? any help would be good...its my DD so i need it...

Check your oil if its a little low it will do that.

well im not sure how to fix your problem, but you could try to disconnect the power to the vtec and see what happens past 4500, it shouldnt engage anymore, and see if its actually the vtec doing it.. and then if its your dd and it runs alright just use it like that and make some time to figure it out

other than that, i have no clue i have never messed with vtec, but good luck.
