i think i will make this cruise in the morning, so we can have time to go to k1 or d1 you guys decide. And also we'll have a meet for about an hour at jack in the box for pictures, to chill, and to grab something to eat.

there is a sheriff station on that road. does not matter what time you do it, rolling in a pack of 6 or more cars is illegal.

Well I guess you've gotten lucky, this place is infested with sheriffs because it is an unmarked area, there are no local city cops.
there have been many crashes there these year, therefore cops have been hiding out down LIVE OAK.
I live in this area. I myself do not take this road towards my house anymore because of the cops. i have been stopped before for having a modified car.
and cops down in SOUTH OC are dicks compared to the rest of OC.
so if u have **** u don't want cops to know about, i say its best not to attend this cruise.
and why would you want to disturb the peace with a bunch of loud cars. theres a nice and quiet camping site on that road.
and by having a meet, you would need to have permission or else it would be considered loitering.

And Cook's is pretty dangerous... I cruise it but I never speed through it. I had a friend die there two years ago. He was going through there and hit a turn too fast, car lost traction, and he slammed into a tree. The car caught on fire, and he died in the hospital with 90% of his body covered in 3rd degree burns and internal bleeding. Think about that the next time you're going through there.

I used to run this canyon very hard, late at night with other people in the car It took an 80mph spin out at the porsche tree (the same tree where Doctor X's friend perished) with my brother riding shotgun to make me realize that canyon running is not worth the potential consequences. Some may refer to live oak canyon road as their funzone, but to others this road serves as a daily commute for many drivers. Although some of you may know each and every bump, pothole, and corner in that road, the urge to hit the throttle a little harder on the next run may be the result of a fatal crash. I know full on roadracing and autox'ing might be a little pricey for some of you but with that price comes safety, a better sense of car control, and high speed fun. I can only say so much to help prevent a future accident from happening in that canyon but all I'm asking is for people to be more cautious about safety towards other drivers, their passengers, and themselves.

The fact that people are giving you personal advice as to what goes on in this canyon should immediately raise some sort of flag in your head telling you that this cruise might not be a good idea.
Even though some of you may have not seen a single cop while driving through there, it doesn't mean that a cop will be sitting on a blind corner the next time you roll through. I have been stopped a total of three times by a sherriff in Live Oak alone, one of them at 3am (when I thought cops wouldnt be there) The cop was parked directly in the middle of both lanes with flares as to not let ANY cars through. And just like YAH YAH stated, he was a dick.k Long story short, COPS DO NOT WANT PEOPLE IN THE CANYON especially a caravan of hondas. I know you probably want this cruise/meet thing to go on with good intentions, but do rethink the consequences of your actions.

You know this is a high traffic area for the police (meaning they know cars pass through there quite frequently), and it is a very dangerous area for a couple of reasons. For one, you'll get citations for any little thing done to your car. I've had friends get tickets for something as small as lack of a front plate to tickets as large as an illegal engine swap. Another reason is because IT'S IN A CANYON. I don't even know if what I stated in the other thread made any difference to you, because you didn't really even think twice about what I said. You might have read it, but you certainly did not comprehend it. Other people have been telling you that maybe it isn't such a good idea to have a cruise/meet like this, and I am going to side with them. When I saw in MY OC thread, I was expecting just a few people for a nice weekend drive, not an entire event. If you want to host a meet, make it official by hosting it in a location that is easy to find, NOT dangerous, and that it is okay by the business in the area, the police, or the city. This is just asking for trouble.
And just so you can see what I said in the other thread, here you go.

Maybe I should post a picture of the tree he hit so you'll know what's up.

Does it matter what tree he hit? The kid was wiped out from the face of this earth. I'm hoping you took the previous 3 posts into consideration.

I did, I was just responding to the post that doctor x said he wanted to post a pic of the tree his friend died in. Which has no relevance to this thread, yes we all know there are risks everywhere even at fuddruckers. Another thing is all of you are acting like were going to speed or race there, and if it is in the afternoon around 3:00 there shouldn't be no problems with noise and also if we split into caravans of six or less then we should be okay.

You must be smoking rocks. Seriously. It DOES have relevance to this thread, because it's occurring in the same place that I had a friend die in. Please show me where I stated that you would be hauling *** through Live Oak? If you can point it out, I would love for you to show me.
When you don't find it let me know. Believe me, the road isn't dangerous just for the curves and trees. I was driving through there one late night, because I wanted to take a different route home, and what do I find in the middle of the road right around the bend? A figgen animal of some sort, just chilling there, right in the middle of the road. Needless to say, I went around it, but it was more reaction. Had a car been on the other side of the road, it would have resulted in a broken front end, or a broken life. Luckily since it was late, there wasn't as much traffic as normal, so nobody was in my way, but it's still not that great of a place to go through. I wasn't speeding, I wasn't trying to blast through the damn thing at warp speed, I was just going 35 - 40 and boom, I had to go into the oncoming lane to not kill mother nature. Have a meet somewhere local just like everyone else.

i see where you getting at, fine if it makes everyone happy i'll cancel the canyon cruise but I will still be holding a meet at the jack in the box. Sorry if I caused any bad things, all I was trying to do was create something fun and relaxing for people who just love to drive. Doctor X, JerBear, etc. can you come to the jack in the box and support?
Yeaaaa LOL
Reminds me of the last time I went up there
Coming back down, my friend and I. Each in our own cars. There was someone walking across with his wife I guess, and he told us to slow down. I was slowing down a while back, but my friend went a little faster then I did. The random guy told him to slow the F down. Then when I rolled by, he hit my door and told me to slow down as well.
Then when we almost got out, there was a sheriff that rolled on the opposite side of the road, and right then and there, a few yards after passing him, we smashed the **** out of there hoping he wouldn't bust a U and question us on why we're up there.
We didn't really run it, we were there to take pictures of our cars actually. Cause my old hatchback was out of commission, and I just swapped in another y7 in there so yea, it was the first day it was running after having a blown motor.
Yea, we were killin it
