Brake Pad Choice
I'm looking for a new set of front pads. Auto zone top-of-the-line pads are Duralast gold pads for $50, while the cheapest I can find Hawk HPS is $80...can't seem to find good enough info on Duralast to compare to the Hawk. For my stock FA5, which is best? Hawk seems good, but having no performance parts, would the Hawk performance justify the price tag? Feel free to suggest other pad options.
Why do you need to change the pads? How many miles did you get on the OEM's?
Unless you are on a race track, the stock pads are just fine. If you are on a race track I highly suggest Porterfield pads. Yes, they are expensive. But there is a difference in friction materiel.

I'm starting to hear squeaking sounds when I brake so I would assume my pads are out...I honestly haven't checked the thickness of the pad, but I'm sure I need new ones from the sounds I'm hearing. So I guess just buy new stock pads?
I found stock pads on Honda eStore through honda owner link, but they are about $70, maybe I can find them cheaper somewhere else or just buy the Hawk for $80

Cheaper? These are your BRAKES, dude. Get a bargain on some other part, but not your brakes.

I think its stupid to freak about stuff like cheap brakes.. Do you really think that even companies that produce cheap automotive products dont have to go through some kind of quality control? I think that the only thing that they may differ on is the amount of time that they will last. Obviously there are pads that are made to perform but other wise IMO theyre all good for DD.

Yes... and no. Cheap pads are "OK" in a DD. They may throw dust or squeal.

Haha as you can tell from my first post, I don't go cheap on my car. I mentioned buying the top-of-the-line brake pad at auto zone, but after some research it seems like Hawk HPS pads are the preferred pad. Someone mentioned going stock.
So for my stock DD it comes down to:
$50 Duralast Gold (best at auto zone)|
$80 Hawks
$70 OEM (cheapest I can find, though I never mentioned getting cheap brakes...check my posts
)

How many miles you have on your car? Sometimes your brake squeek due to not driving for awhile and rust forming on your rotors. It goes away and your pads are fine.
Hmm, I have about 25k on it, but I just checked the thickness of my pad and there's tons of life left on them
