1987 honda civic battery drain? please help
I have a 1987 civc hatchback with 368,000 miles. The car runs great, but recently the battery died; so I replaced it. The second battery died overnight. Then I noticed that the hazard connector on the positive terminal was broke so I replaced it. Jumped off the car and the battery died in about two hours. Obvilosly something is draining it, but I am at a loss for what it could be. no lights are on, and the key is not in the switch. I am thinking of replacing the switch to see if that corrects it. Any suggestions? please?
you have to hook up a dmm to the battery and then see how much power is being drawn. then remove every fuse one by one till the draw is gone, this way you know what circuit the problem is with
when you hook up a dmm too check for a draw make shere the doors closed but you can also disconect the ground and hook up a test light from the cable too battery if you dont have a dvm it works the same
Is it an Si (fuel injected)? My 85 Si had a bad ECU and was draining the battery. I think we put a test light in series with a battery cable and started unplugging stuff until it went out. It was the ECU. Replaced it and all is well now. Sometimes water gets in the floorpans.
