Default 88 Acura Integra 1.6 DOHC, erratic idle, exhaust vapor and more...

Car has erratic idle, visible exhaust vapor, unusual exhaust odor, car stumbles upon acceleration sporadically, will also die unexpectedly, then is very hard to restart. Replaced main relay, cam positioning sensor, distributor cap, rotor, fuel pressure regulator, plugs, wires. Runs great for a while then the above problems appear. 140K, when it runs, it runs strong. At wits end, need help with a diagnosis. HELP!!!!! Thanks.

Could possibly be a bad head gasket. But for the idle, check the Idle air control screw...I forgot exactly where it is, but I know it's on the throttle body. If you need a Helms manual for that year I can sell. Also, has the timing belt been changed, and the valves adjusted?

Timing belt hasn't been changed yet, valves haven't been adjusted. Never thought of the head gasket either. Thanks so much for your input, it's very much appreciated. Will contact you if we need the Helms manual. Thanks again

I'm always here to help out fellow 'Teg owners. Let me know if you have any more problems. Oh, one more thing....the Ignition control module (ignitor) might be going out as well. That can cause the sudden killing of the car. If the car dies and won't restart, look at the tach. IF the tach doesn't bounce a little when trying to start, that means the Ignitor is bad and needs to be replaced...It's a little tricky to do so, but can be done in the car. HTH
