Default How do you remove the ICU?

I've got a 1993 Accord EX, and my wipers don't reliably do intermittent mode, so I wanted to inspect the capacitors on my ICU. I've read that bad/leaking capacitors can cause this problem, and if they are bad, I'd like to replace them before the leak all over everything.

But I'm having trouble actually removing the ICU. My manual just says "remove the ICU", which isn't very helpful. Anyone have tips on how to do this?

Here's a couple pics I took. I think the ICU is right there above the fuses:

First remove the 8pin connector from the back of the ICU. Then there are two tangs on the fuse panel, 1 on the top and 1 on the bottom of the ICU, that you can gently pry with a long shank flathead screwdriver.

Try to imagine the fuse panel in your car with all the wires sticking out of it.

The top one is the first one that you should pry up. At the same time pull out on the ICU.

Once you have pried the ICU out enough to passed the top tang move down to the bottom one and pry it away from the ICU.

Once the bottom tang is pried down pull the ICU strait out from the fuse panel. Your Good to go.

You may want to remove the two wire connectors from the fuse panel, below the ICU, to give yourself some more room. Don't worry you can't screw then up they will only fit in one spot....

Great pictures -- thanks! I wasn't able to get it out just now but hopefully I'll be able to pull it out and inspect it over the weekend.

Default Looks OK

I managed to pull it out and open it up. The capacitors look perfectly fine and there's no apparent leakage or damage to the circuit board, so I guess it's probably not the ICU that's causing the problem. I guess I'll just live with it for now...
