I was just wondering if its safe to polish and wax a CF hood. just got my friends hood and the clear coat doesn't look to good on it (he doesn't know how to take care of anything)

anyways, I used a friends monster of a buffer on my car a few months ago and it did wonders for my car,everyone thought I had gotten a new paint job, so I was wondering if I could use it on the too? maybe just be a little more careful than I would on the paint.

i wax and polish my CF hood about once a month. Sonner or later im going to break down and get the clear coat re-done on it.

oh yeah, and do most CF hood have little, I guess 'wrinkles' or 'imperfections' when you look at em in different angles?

just wondering cus this one looks nice and smooth and straight and all , but and certain angles you can see some wavy spots.

I've never really looked a CF hoods before so I really don't know much about them but for free this was one deal I couldn't pass up.

At a body paint shop...and Fiber Images told me 2 yrs ago to wax my c/f hood every 3-4 weeks.

 

my friend's cf hood was pretty messed up, so he wet sanded it, shot a layer of clear, and buffed it out, and it came out pretty good...now he just waxes it every couple of weeks to keep the shine.

 

i have a vis hood and it has a clearcoat. what is the best wax to use on it or should i just leave it and not wax it. thanks

I wax mine all the time more than I do the whole car . If you dont wax it the clear coat will start to look shitty.

I always recommend to my customers to wax their hood atleast 2 times a month. Buff it every once in awhile, but the most important thing is to wax them to maintain the glossy look and keep them from eventually fading. Some will last longer than others depending on the manuf. and also what gel coat they use.

I wax my CF hood about every 7-8 weeks nowadays. Mine's Fiber Images, and it's held up very well for over 2 years.
