Default When using nippon piston rings, Is "N" the marking for up?

When using nippon piston rings, the only visible marking is an "N" on the 1st and 2nd compression rings. Is this "N" supposed to face upward or downward? Or is thta just a manufacture marking?

What did the instructions say? Usually when you buy parts there is an instruction sheet.

1. Markings / dots always face up.

There are some other less consistent rules but I won't mention them here - doing so will cloud the issue.

I see the top ring has a little bevel on the edge which is facing up, would the 2nd compression ring mirror the top one? Both the 1st and 2nd rings have this bevel

The top is "barrel faced" so has a slight beveling on both top and bottom outer edge. :shakes head:

Even my dumbass knows da markings always face up, come on son. It should state this in your repair manual......you are using a repair manual correct? To like ya know......get proper tq specs/ring clocking and all that junk.

Read da manual.

i usually take that mark as facing up, and i also look at the ring itself to double check (they have a groove or some **** at the edge of the ring) that also tells me which one goes on top and bottom

I really appreciate the help i got. Now I know it was done right and have no second guesses. I'm fine with people messing around. It just bothers me when someone looks at another person as a dumb *** for asking a question they did not know the 100% absolute answer to
