oil light flickering???
i jsut chaged the oil .. has about 4.5 quarts in it(b18c1) and i take it fora rive and come back let it idle and the light (oil) starts to flicker???
how many miles on the engine? did you rebuild it?
check that the oil filter was put back on properly (you did change that too didn't you?)
maybe you have an oil pressure problem somewhere?
(for those that dont know - the oil light does not mean low oil - it means low oil pressure!!!)
t..
Check everything noted. If you are lucky you have a bad sensor and not an engine problem. I would get it checked out ASAP to ensure your not damaging your engine.
Let the car sit and re-check the oil.
yeah i bought it from a friend... rebulit it says it has 2k on it after rebuild.. i changed oil and filter...
sounds like it could have loose bearing clearances...
or a worn oil pump,
someone may suggest that you can shim hte oil pump to increase the pressure, but im not sure how to do this
check first with your friend about the state of the crankshaft and bearings when he/she pulled it apart...
and ask him/her what was replaced or machined in the rebuild.
t..
isnt 4.5 quarts a little high if you didnt change the filter? (never done a gsr change)
but an oil light that flickers means its fluctuating near low/no oil pressure. i had a similar problem with mine.

Shimming the oil pump is done by removing the plug on the bottom, a spring will come out. If you put a shim or spacer or washer or whatever, it will change spring tension on the oil relief valve.
Pressure does not equal volume. If there are loose bearing tolerances pressure will only take care of the light not the problem. If you actually dig far enough to shim it, just put new bearings while you're there. Usually if you see the light assume yo **** is dead. That thing goes on when there like 5 psi.
