Looking to get a Type R ECU for my car to go with my JDM Type R Cams and valvesprings i picked up but just need to know if a 99 Si is OBDIIA or OBDIIB. Thanks for the help in advance!!!
I believe is OBD II part 2 but I could be wrong I always looked at it and could tell from the plugs but i do believe there already is a thread that posted the difference for the year model cpu.

1. It's definately OBD2B plugs
2. Good luck getting an OBD2B ITR ECU running on your car - it has the BS immobilizer crap that makes it virtually impossible to make it mwork in your car, unless there is an immobilizer bypass trick I'm not aware of.
3. Your best bet is getting a jumper harness and running a non-immobilizer type OBD2A 1997 ITR P73 ECU (if you can find one) if the car needs to stay OBD2 year round.
OR
Run a jumper harness and a rechipped/programmed/tuned P28 OBD1 ECU, and if the car has to pass emissions each year plug in the stock 99 Civic Si ECU for a few days, then go back with the P28 for the rest of the year

Does the immobilizer apply to JDM ITR ecu's as well???? I do have a OBD1 P28ecu laying around, where can i get it chipped from??? Also, where can conversion harnesses be found if i do decide to get a ITR OBDIIA ecu and want to run it in my car, and where can a harness be found to run the P28 ecu????

Believe it or not the JDM P73 has OBD2A plug type, no immobilizer, BUT runs an OBD1 program! It doesn't look for OBD2-specific 2nd o2 sensor, evap, CKF, nor will it throw misfire codes, etc. It's basically an untunable OBD1 ECU with an OBD2A plug!

Great!! Thanks for all the info, looks like i will be sending out my P28 to be chipped!! Seems like the easiest thing to do rather then running into problems with an ITR Ecu. Thanks again!!!

Yeah I found this out almost by mistake really back in 2001 when I ran a jumper harness with a 1996 spec JDM ITR P73 ECU in my 1992 Civic Si HB with my B18C5 swap - I was expecting it to throw all those OBD2-specific codes while I waited for my P28 to get chipped by Kenji, but it ran fine and never threw a code. I hadn't hooked up the 2nd o2 - no place for it in my cat, I had no evap anything, no CKF, etc. because I wouldn't need them with my P28 when it came back.
Since then I've personally seen/driven/worked on a handful more cars with similiar set-ups and the JDM ECU is really only OBD2 in plug type, nothing more.
