well i used to have a Apex-i Ni Turbo Exhaust on my GSR and it was really loud... if you want something that will sound not loud but really nice and deep go with a Apex-i WS2 cat back....highly recomended, you wont regret it, best in the market.

also magnaflow exhausts will probably be the deepest you'll find. i have a magnaflow and I love the exhaust note. I bought a magnaflow muffler and got a shop to fab custom 2 1/4'' piping and it sounds good and it cost less than $200

I have a RSR and it's great. it's loud when you get on it, sounds deep and mean, but if you keep it under 4k you don't hear a thing. kinda spendy, but you get what you pay for.

I got a Flowmaster 40 series muffler with a 1 1/2 inch tip. Sounds great and the small tip makes it look stock. Nice deep tone and not raspy one bit. Cost me under $200 for 2 1/2 inch piping from the cat back, Muffler, and the exhaust tip.

i would personally go with an axle back exhaust. i have a magnaflow axleback and it has a real deep sound to it be isnt obnoxiously loud like some catbacks i hear. it sounds nice at a low rumble as well as when you get into higher rpm ranges it has a very nice sound to it the mugen twin loop is also a great choice. i thought about getting one once. they sound great on videos ive seen.

It is too bad the Comptech stuff is no longer available.

It was the best, and it was handmade in the USA, can't beat that.

Yeah, that or Tanabe Super Medallion Hyper. I just ordered one, it's on it's way and im super excited to put it on. I heard it on my buddied GS-R hatch, sounds exactly as you described: low-tone, not tooo throaty, but decently raspy. Sick!!
