Default Can a mini-me be done between any honda engine? Or only within the same series?

I was confused yet intrigued to know that you could do a mini me swap between a 1.5 litre D series and a 1.6 litre D series even though from what I assume the 1.6 litre head being larger. So I was wondering, can you do a mini me swap with just about any motor? Putting a D series head on a K series motor? What about at the minimum, doing a mini me swap between a D13B2 and a D15Z7 or D1571? Or even a D16Y5!

I was thinking that if I could do that, wouldn't I yield much better mileage such I have lowered the displacement of the engine, while at the same time am using more advanced fuel injected, lean burning VTEC-E or 3 stage VTEC technology?

Good thing you posted this question in this section. Not many come here so the flaming won't be to bad.

NO you can't swap between series. A, D head will not fit on a K.

If I was you I would find some way to delete that post.

Are you implying this is in the mini me faq that I have not been able to find? Can you do a mini me swap between an E series engine and a D series engine? In case you're not aware, from what I know the E series engines were renamed to D series starting in 1987 and I believe otherwise they're fundamentally the same.

Also if I did get a hold of an E series engine say a 1.2 or 1.3 litre, would it even be a good idea/worth it to put a head from a D15Z1 or Z7? My thinking would be that the old engine would probably be in poor condition since it was carbuerated.

Try this then. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_E_engine

I had no idea about E series.

Do the D series search or look at the post on this forum by need for speed.

I still doubt it would be worth the effort.

Good Luck.

just because you have a smaller displacement engine, doesnt mean you will get better fuel mileage. such as the 1.3 from the rx7 (lousy). or the 6.0 from the corvette (not that bad).

But since we know how the D series performs and what features it has with the right ECU and head, I'd say it's pretty much assured that I'll get better mileage with an engine that has less displacement.

E series = D series

Well I've seen some 1.3L D series engines go up to 96hp and I don't think that's with a 3 Stage Vtec Head. My thinking is that with a 3 stage Vtec Head, I could tune the engine so that I'd get enough power at the top end while having it give me enough power for cruise speeds and whatnot. I'm just wondering if a 1.5L head will fit on a 1.3L block, but if it can, then I think it will reduce pumping losses, allow more lean mixtures and possibly better emissions. There have been Civics that were sold with a 1.3L, just not in the US.
