Default Short shifter decision

Hi,

I want to get a dual bend short shifter for my 97cx hatch... it has the stock D series motor in it... so I called my local shop and they told me that only a single bend is for the D series and dual is for B series motors... Is this true, or did I get the guy working his first shift???

Thanks A lot

Yeah you can get a dual bend, the bends have nothing to do with your engine.

it is true, if you look a the D it only had one bend that forms the arch on the D, the B you see has two arches.

thus the D can only have a single bend, while the B can have dual.

I also have a skunk2 dual bend on my 92 dx hatch. They make them in both dual and single bends.

They probably only stock the single bend, doesn't mean the dual bends don't exist. Every company's inventory is different.

I've been to a bunch of shops and not a single one has ever had a skunk2 dual bend for a D series motor.... either you are wrong, or these shops don't want to sell it to me... I hope you are right however... can someone post a website where I can order a skunk2 dual bend for a d16y7... SOHC motor... I would greatly appreciate the owning

Secondly, Rok Stok... I have a mint condition buddy club SS I ordered but it's for a b16... many websites advertise it fits 92-00 civics... but only if they have B series motors in them... that's why I think a lot of people think you can get a dual bend for a D series

So I guess it's settled... there are no 'dual bend' short shifters for D series motors!

88-91 Civic/CRX, 90-93 Integra, Use the Skunk2 Single Bend
92+Civic/94+ Integra, Use the Skunk2 Dual Bend

there.

I disagree with you my friend... Sure those specs are right... but that's not what's important... the motor specs are important... and 92+ civics with "B-series" motors can have dual bend... but if they don't they have to use single bends... I have a 97 ek with a D series and I wanted a dual bend for it... but im outta luck it seems

I'm using a B&M dual bend on my D16Y8, I don't understand why people would think it wouldn't work. The application list for my shifter lists '92-'00 civics & '94-'01 Integras, they should all be interchangeable.

ya but they are not... 94-01 integra's have B series shift linkages and I'm pretty sure that D series linkages are different... idk if you can modify it to fit tho... because I have a buddy club (dual bend) and it won't fit my D series

I personally would not get a short shifter

you are actually increasing the time between shift since you have to move your hand further down, I would perfer a taller shifter thats almost next to my steering wheel or close to it.

Plus most short shifter are light, now you have to push/pull harder to get it into gear.
