Help Needed!!! Clutch, Transmission, Slave Cylinder Issue
1999 Prelude, had a leaking slave cylinder. Before I could replace, I had a major malfunction and ended having to tow the car home. When taken apart, the throwout bearing had litterally melted, and the pressure plate teeth were bent in. Have replaced the clutch and everything is smooth until we try to bleed the clutch. We thought it was a bad slave or master, both which have been replaced, until we realized it has something to do after the slave. The fork attached to the throwout bearing has alot of play and is not pressing up against the pressure plate correctly is my only conclusion. When the slave cylinder is on, the fork is in the position which should be disengaging the clutch. I know its quite hard to explain, but has any one ever experienced this before, I have changed many a clutch and transmission before, but never been able to move the fork all the way one direction and all the way the other....
Sounds like you either have the wrong throwout bearing or it is installed incorrectly. That or maybe the same problem with the fork...
Heres the thing, I busted a hole in the fork as well, on the rounded brass bolt in the transmission. So I went to honda and got a new one of those and the spring. Throwout bearing came in the clutchmasters kit, and tonight I went to auto zone and bought a cheap duralast kit just for testing reasons. Used all the parts provided, same issue. It makes no sense since I see it as a cut and dry install.

You sure you have the right fork and throwout bearing? The slave cylinder should be very close to the fork even with the clutch engaged so as soon as you push the pedal it will start to release...

Yes I am positive of all the parts. My next question, should the teeth on the pressure plate stick out at all, like before you put it on, or should the teeth be parallel to each other?

I would like to know this as well, having a similar problem.

roff
i am sure it is not the hydrolic system what so ever. i believe the slave should be compressed in normal position and extended when the pedal is pressed, but in the case the piston is all the way out.

So i reinstalled everything, now my question is, should the slave cylinder piston be fully compressed when the cylinder is attached to the block and the piston is resting on the fork?
It looks as though the piston is sitting half way out right now and the fork is sitting at about 7 o clock. I have bleed the clutch so much and even went as far as hooking a hose with connector from the master to the slave, still with no pressure.
should the cylinder be fully compressed, and this is the reason I can not build the pressure. going on 3 months with out the car just because of a bad throwout bearing and slave cylinder gone to hell!!!

see this thread above, the pictures SteveoBA8 has are exactly what problems i am having, the piston is too far out, but everything is mechanically correct
