Makin' my own stuff...
I have access to a manufacturing plant that can make just about anything out of any kind of metal I want and I also have access to a machine shop. (Family Biz.) Anyway, I was thinking about making my own tie bars and strut tower braces for my 99 civic. I was going to start with the little bar that the ITR has connecting the lower arms of the rear suspension. Then who knows maybe I'll try some other parts if they aren't too complicated. Anyone had any experience making stuff like this? If so, what are some precautions or should I even try it at all?
Hell yeah, go for it. What better way to do this then trial and error.....if you make them pretty enough you can patent it and sell them like http://www.benen.com
Not too many people advertise solid bars for the 99-00 Civics. Even though they are the same as the 96-98's.
Go for it!! Have a good time and know that you made the solid (LIGHT) bars on your own.

that is a cool idea! i am sure you can easily reproduce some of those bars out there... the Mugen bars are solid and simple designs.. you might want to look into those designs and see what you can do!
-nate (yes you are an idiot!

Hey, I have a classmate made one for his car in the machine shop class, he have a hollow alum rec bar welded to 2 ring like plate and screw it on his car, works pretty well I heard. Doesn't look as good as retail stuff though.
