I found the listing that said the code 41 was primary O2 sensor heater circuit. So I just went ahead and replaced the front (manifold) O2 sensor. Reset the ECU (removed the Back Up fuse). The car is still throwing a code 41! Any ideas why, or anyone know how to test the circuit itself?

Is your exhaust stock?

 

What kind of sensor did you replace it with? Stock part or a universal you had to wire up yourself?

If its the universal check your wiring and the wire lengh.

Also check for a break in the wire going to the o2 sensor regardless could just be a bad connection or something simple like that.

 

Replaced with a plug-in replacement, no wiring on my part. (Bosch OEM) It is a stock exhaust. Still can't get the darn code to clear! Tried reseating the connection and reset computer like 15 times now. This is frustrating!!!

 

Went to Autozone and had the scan tool reset the ecu memory. Seems to have done the trick.

When you reset the ecu you have to step on the brake as well to "drain" what little charge may have been left in the ecu.

Or use the ecu tool

 

All right. Now I'm completely frustrated. After the code was cleared by Autozone, i was good for one outing, then the blasted CEL again...code 41. What gives?

Why won't this clear?

Could the new O2 sensor be bad? (In the same way mind you..heater circuit)

Any help would be appreciated. I'm ready to throw this car in the dumpster...and it only has 63,000 miles on it. My teggy with 320,000 doesn't have troubles like this!!

 

Check your ecu. I had the same code, replaced O2 with no change. Took the cover off the ecu to find burns spots in it. Bought new ECu...Bling! No more CEL, 525 miles later....
