it happens everytime i am just coming out of first gear, releasing the clutch, it sounds like something is knocking..

i have a 02 civic lx 5 spd coupe..
it sounds worse when it is a cold start up, but my friend said it sounded like there was something wrong with the axel.. what do you guys think it could be? anyone else have this problem?

 

my clutch knocks sometimes too but mine happens randomly in idol and doesnt go away until i accelerate.

 

i have the same knoking noise aswell. last time i had my car up on the hoist, 3 out of 4 of my sway bar links had alot of play in them. im replacing them some time next week, so hopefully that fixes the problem. i'll let you know if that fixed the problem.

 

mine doesnt happen at idol, it happens when i accelerate. so i dont know what the deal is.

 

had same prob for a while...would clunk during turns...was top strut bolt

 

What's your mileage?
when's the last time you checked your bushings?

somethings to look at:
check your engine bushings.
check your suspension bushings (not likely).
check your struts to make sure their torqued right.

yeah dude, come on now you know i search. im not new to this site..

yeah it would not be my suspension bushings, or struts, like i said its the engine, its as if i can hear the pistons moving inside the engine, as a knocking noise though. it goes away.

my mileage is about 109,000
and i havent checked my bushings even though i strongly doubt thats the problem..

 

I think I'm having a similar problem.
No matters the engine is cold or warmed up, the first take off always have knocking noise. After run for a couple minutes, stop, then take off again, the knocking noise is completely gone.
I have no idea what happened. I did a ton of research, but didn't get the right answer. In my opinion, it’s not something with the axle. And forget about the bushing. Anybody else?
