Default Wastegate on divided housing turbine - how?

So I want to use a divided housing (twin-scroll) on my turbo to minimize turbo lag. The catch is that the wastegate is supposed to bleed off all four cylinders.

Research shows that the right way is using two wastegates, but I'm trying to keep things simple. Why can't I run a divider in the tube leading to the wastegate, right up to the wastegate valve? I was told that it won't work because it'll choke off the flow but I'm not sure I agree with that. If half the flow comes from two cylinders, having half the wastegate to flow through should be fine.

Is my thinking right on this? How have you guys dealt with this situation?

the ones I've seen, have wastegate necks that come around and join up into one wastegate.
