Default Honda Accord Cold Air Intake

Was searching Ebay and came across a new cold air intake kit for $35. I see the prices very up to $300.

First, do they really increase your mpg?

Second, does it matter how much you spend on one?

Third, does anyone have a recommedation on a brand?

Thanks!!!

From what ive been told the only thing that really matters is the filter. get the kit from ebay and get like a K&N cone filter. im not really sure if it will change your mpg. but the longer the pipe the better.

for some people they can just get an eBay kit and replace the filter with a better one but seeing as you are from CA you may want to get an AEM or another that is CARB legal.

Exactly what he said. Since you are from Cali and smog regulations are so tough here you have to have that sticker unless you want to just go the cheap route and then when your test comes up you switch back to the OEM one.

stealing this thread since it looked like the original question has been answered

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i have a 96 accord LX with an AEM cold air intake that goes all the way down into the wheel well (duh?), i've had different mechanics tell me to replace it immediately because it could end up destroying my engine

my friend found this link http://www.sportcompactcarweb.....html to an article about a bypass valve that AEM makes

i was thinking about getting a short ram intake (and a k&n filter), but i think it'll be worse than the AEM one i have now

are there any other options and do you guys think that the AEM cold air intake is a good one?

Search please, you're referring to hydrolock and unless you plan on driving your car through a puddle that reaches the interior through the doors, you're fine.
