crx d16 a6 problem. put in a new head gasket kit and wont run right.
i recently installed a new head gasket kit. im pretty sure i did everything right. im just not exactly sure on the timing crap. anyways... i put the motor back together and first i had to rotate the distributor 180 degrees before it would start. then when it started the engine check came on almost immediately and it started bogging at 3500 rpm when revved. when it is bogging it isnt just a constant bog the bogging fluctuates if the throttle is held on. also, the engine runs fine before the engine check light turns on
also, i figured out that the thermostat doesnt work. my engine thermostat when im running my gauge stays at zero. could this be part of the problem? wiring issues?

let start over, when you taken the head off did you set your cyl #1 to tdc, that the piston closes to the timming belt, make sure that was all the way up, when you put the belt on did you set your cam gear to tdc. that where the cam gear is pointing up, it will have a mark that say up, and the other two line on each side of the cam gear lines up with the top of the head horizontle if its not at those mark, redue the timming. Was the engine running fine befor you did the head job ? and did you have any check engine light on befor...
the engine check light was not there before i did the head gasket replacement. the engine ran fine besides burning some antifreeze. its just running crappy now after the head gasket.
i had my pistons 1 and 4 at tdc when i performed the timing but im not sure about the cam gear.

yes i checked all my plugs and replaced the wiring to one of the plugs. i didnt mess with the thermostat housing before i did the gasket replacement, so it should be fine now, but its just not reading.
make sure you have timing belt on right - D16A6 is not the same as D15 engines - D15 cam gear marks line up with top of head - D16A6, you use the 3rd mark at about 7 o'clock and line it up with the mark on the inner timing cover
yup the ecu flashes 4 lights then pause then 4 lights and repeats that process... isnt that crank position sensor?
on your crank pulley there are three marks beside one another, about 2 tinkles over there is another. the seperate mark is your tdc mark, take a white paint marker and mark it. when the motor finally runs get a timing light and and the pointer should be hitting on the middle notch of the 3.
there isnt any marks on my crank pulley, you mean the cam gear for the timing belt right.
ive timed it correctly about 3 times and then gone back and forth a tooth about 5 times so i have no clue what is wrong

ok try this, if your not sure about your timming, take out spark plug #1 that the plug closes to the timming belt. cut up a hager metal or plastic up. just make sure you save the logest peice, you will need that to stick into you cyl. JUST MAKE SURE YOU DONT SCRATCH YOUR CYL WALLS IF YOU USE A METAL HANGER. take off you timming belt, and turn the crank till you see the hanger hit tdc. then turn the cam and mark that up with the point, slip the belt on, your crank sensor is located in your diz. give that a shot, and see how that works.
The mark you are looking for is the fourth, way over to the right. I moved the pulley away from TDC so all 4 marks could be seen in this photo
