well most people just throw their interiors away, and Its a pain to get another interior, so save it if you must. and you wont be losing that much weight.
when it boils down to it you could probaby get better results by going on a diet.
are you drag racing or what?

SAVE YOUR DAM INTIERIOR!
I [freak]in hated my hatch when i bought it, no back interior!
Its so ugly, uncomfortable, and NOISY *** hell.
You cant carry passengers, you hear every bump.
Also it doesent even lighten you car for it to count in racing.
Also your going to get tired of it fast, specially if you have an eftermarket exhaust all your ganna hear is HUMMMMMMMMMMMM HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
and your going to be popping your ears every 10 seconds.
If you do go that route save the interior, dont throw it away like dumbasses, its so hard to find and when you do its expensive.
I am slowly putting my interior back in, and its sooo much better.
No instead of [freak]in on my front seats i got back seats and its wayyy better.

although this seems like an appearance thread, i will bite.
as far as tech goes... well i dont mind the gutted interior noise, its loud yes, but its all part of the package with my car, its not ment to be quiet. plus my seats don't recline anyway so nobody will get in the back. future plans call for a cage as well so thats another reason.
your not going to gain much performance wise, but if you like it, rock it!

No one needs to gut unless it's a very competative racing class and each lb counts.

i personly wouldnt do it. i had the jdm back seat in my crx. then i sold it and didnt have interior for like 2 months cus i was to lazy to put the original interior back in. but if you dont make it look semi nice than your going to be disgusted with the 20 years of grime underneath the seats and water where the spare tire is cus every EF LEAKS WATER. i personly think it just looks gross. plus everyone can see all your junk you throw in your trunk. i think it gives theives a better eye for what they could break in and steal. if your not going full on race with the car it really serves no purpose.

I gutted my interior a week after i bought my car in 2005, and i have been running it that way ever since. I don't care what all the haters have to say about gutted interior.
Without back seats, I dont have to haul people's fat asses around and blow my rear struts doing it. The only sound i need is the tires on the road and my engine spinning at 7k rpm. I like to hear my car. if you want low noise, buy a caddilac or something. I also ripped out my AC system, and my stereo system and front carpetting are next.
Unfortunatly i still have the sound deadening in my car, but that will be removed as soon as i get an F'ing garage on August 1st.. As far as people seeing the **** in my car, well, i dont have anything except for what fits in a craftsman cloth tool bag, and its also my incentive to keep my car clean.
for what it is worth, i also have meticulous records of gas consumption since my very first tank of gas in the car, and some day i will sit down and do the calculations to figure out what hauling 35lbs worth of empty seats and seatbelts around for 4 years would have cost me in extra gas. I don't really care about fuel mileage, but it is one more thing that makes not having interior in my car worth it to me.

Unless you are going to track only, it is really a useless thing to do.
Honestly. Absolutely. Useless.
Seriously.
I will waste you with a full interior.

It saves weight, but I think it's a dumb thing to do unless it's a track only car.
x2. I bought my CRX Si COMPLETELY gutted. The ONLY (and I litterally mean ONLY) things it had was 2 seats and the climate controls up for the center console, and the dash (including the glovebox).
No carpet, door panels, passenger seatbelt, headliner, random other pieces, or ANY rear interior. It was annoying as heck to drive. The Kuhmo Ecsta V700 tires were so sticky I heard every single grain of sand bounce in my wheel wells. I gutted an engineless DX I had sitting around and put that interior in my Si.
This is essentially what my car looked like, excluding the fancy dash work and cage:

I'm not against it. But I believe it stinks for a semi-daily driven car
The biggest pain in the *** has been finding a complete set of interior for it, not to mention all of those random, miscellaneous plastic pieces you don't even notice until they're gone. But 4 years later I finally found the headliner, and a decent carpet. Now I FINALLY have 2 CRXs and 2 FULL interiors.

i rocked mine gutted for a few months
i didnt like how it looked
so what i did was put the side panels back in and the cover for the spare tire, left the rear speakers out and the rear cover out,
saves about 30 lbs still
left the plastics that weighted about 1lbs each in, makes it look very nice like you cant tell i took interior out but i shaved the heavy weight.
in my little crx the component speakers in the door is plently loud for me, dont need a heavy boom box either, if you looked at my car it looks stock, but i also took out the ac and all the ac lines and the ac resinator and the freon bottle, all together i shaved over 100lbs in the car without making it look like it.
but i saved all my interior, NEVER throw it away, cause you want to keep it for car shows and such

My EF is sort of gutted because the interior was [freak]ed up(previously owned by a construction worker; figure it out), and I did not like the color. It now has CRX dash, tilt steering/steering wheel, and door panels in there. Also, MFab S68 seat and EG passenger seat going in; along with black interior pieces if I can find some.
I used a bathroom scale to weigh everything; and got 66.9lbs removed(pretty much just rear seat assembly, headliner, plastic pieces, foam up front, rear seatbelts). The stock dash assembly was about 16lbs; but I didn't include that since it was replaced.
Also; I should note, it really does suck as a DD.

WRONG!!!
If your cars previous owner was a jackass that didn't look at anything and you had years of water damage and blue (yes blue) mold growing in the carpet and rear seats, i think it moves into a health / cleanliness thing.

I love my POS.
But, if your brain keeps a constant and normal chemical balance unlike mine, the rattling and noises coming from stuff will more then likely drive you insane. I would have kept my complete interior had it not been destroyed. And now i'm too lazy to get any parts besides chassis parts for it. Screw it.

mines gutted. i dont like it too much. i didnt notice any increase in mpg...i get head aches on long drives aka my drive to work, the only reason its still gutted it because my seats are getting redone and im waiting on new carpet. i cant wait to rock full interior again. and as at the track i didnt notice a huge difference in my times with interior and with out. just keep it in there unless you plan on using it for a track car only and are doing a full cage
