Secondary o2 sensor wiring.
I recently bought a 98 EX civic w/ a B16A swapped in. There is a CEL that reads to be the secondary 02 sensor. I bought a new 02 sensor still a CEL. I then ran back the wiring back thru the floor board to find out the wires were fried.
I bought a whole new wiring harness out of a wrecked 98 ex. The wires that lead to the 02 sensor look the same for except one that is a black/white wire that I do not know where it goes to. The wrecked cars wiring harness the blk/white wire goes into a trunk of wires like the others, but my harness in my car I can't find it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, this is driving me nuts.

Hey thar!
ok so o2 sensors generally have 4 wires
atleast in my accord obd2 cars
2 same colored wires "black"
1 white - o2 sensor signal to ecu
1 sensor ground *NOT CAR GROUND.
1 of the black wires will go to ign +12
the other black wire will go to the ecu to something like heater control
Hope that helps.

What I am looking at is
- 2 black white stripe wires
-green w/ white stripe wire
-white w/ red stripe wire w/ a ground wire in a grey w/ pink stripe jacket
I know where all the wires go except for the smaller gauge black w/white stripe wire. Can anyone explain where it exactly goes or around what area does it lead to under the dash or whatever. Or if anyone can just take a minute and track back the wires from the secondary 02 sensor, that would be great. It comes up thru the floor underneath the dash near the passenger floor.
Thanks for the help!

I guess to clear some ISH Up
the B16A can either be OBD1 or OBD2 Please identify which your using so we can help you as obd1 does not have a secondary 02 sensor.
ehhh you pretty much just repeated what i just typed there
OK using some simple narrowing downhere..
2 black wires are like Myself and Calvin explained.
there is no polarity to these on the 02 sensor just make sure one goes here the other goes there...
the green with white stripe is sensor ground 99% sure about this knowing honda wiring and color selection.
the red wire is simply 02 sensor signal input to the ecu should be some pin on it but you knew that
there should be 2 same colored wires there and we have identified them as being black with white stripe's so if your saying you know where 1 of the 2 go then look at my previous response and same with Calvin's as we have told you.
If your saying theres a 3rd black wire with a white stripe for a total of 5 wires thats different...
I remember on another post someone was talking about a wide band 02 sensor in the HX civic's for the vtec-E for retarded high AF ratios in terms of 17.0:1 and higher..
but you had the EX which doesn't have that feature

Thanks for the info. What it boils down to is all I need to know is where the smaller gauge black/white wire goes to.
You said:

I am newbie when it comes down to computer wires and ecu's. What and where is the ign +12 and the black wire that goes to the ecu/heater control?
Thanks

You have a 98 Civic which is OBD II. That means that there is supposed to be a 2nd O2 sensor after the catalytic converter. It's job is simply to make sure the CC is working properly. So you have removed it or it wasn't on there or something but the ECU isn't getting a signal from it which is causing it to throw a CEL.
