About to get a 08 Si sedan questions
Guys,
Im about to get a 08 si sedan. I dont know what color yet, but was complating on summer tires? Is there any mechanical issues about these cars? Anything that I should be aware before I make this purchase. Does the motor suck? I used to have a ep3 and VTEC sucked! Let me know thanks

you cant compare the z3 to the a3 at all. i personally came from an 05 ssm. i have the 07 and i wouldnt trade her for anything at the moment (realistically)
besides that, new car. new warranty. do it.

thats all i heard is 3rd gear problems but i have a 2007 fa5 tw and i love it and never got any problems except the clunking sound from the front suspension but dont hear it anymore since i put on the skunk2 pro-s suspension.

Overall a great car. I've owned every generation of Civic and worked in the industry for just under 5 years. This is the closest Honda has come to the Type R in the US since 2001. The motor, trans, ans seats are great. I like the styling over the coupe and it has a bigger footprint than a TSX (i.e. good on the track - road course, not drag strip). Stereo is decent from the factory. If I could change anything it would be the MacStrut front suspension, but I can't do that.
Skip the summer tires and invest that money in a good set of aftermarket wheels/tires.
H&R Sport springs work decent with stock shocks.
Intake, header, exhaust, Hondata reflash will net some serious gains in HP.
OEM Body kit is hot.
Other than that I wouldn't change anything.
Pic of my FA5 on the track....

HONESTLY... if i had a choice again in which car i could of bought the Si would of not been in my choice list. After owning the car and going through the bullshit problems i had, kinda made me not even want to have a honda anymore. It looks good dont get me wrong but the mechanical/designed problems out weigh the good. If you have the windows half way down you can hear the windows moving and hitting the sides (not loud but it does get annoying), you hear popping noises in the suspension, my exhaust gasket had to be changed because of rattling noises, tranny had to be replaced at 1500miles, my fuses for the 12volt blew out twice, now the car has to go in because the right side panels look off compared to the drivers side... so whoever made my civic F U.
hope this helps in your decision

Supposibly the 3rd gear problem does not exist on 2008 models after March or April.
I just bought one, it's the best decision I've made. Since it's brand new, I haven't hit full throttle, but I can tell the car kicks. In addition, the handling is amazing. It hits corners far faster than the regular Civic.

Just bought one. Fantastic car. Early ones had some sort of hanging rev issue that was solved by an ECU reflash. No 3rd gear problem for me (that I can tell).
I love mine 365miles on the odometer right now, I got it in nighthawk pearl, and the color is sick, at night if any light shines at it, it lets off a sick blue color, the blue flake in the paint definitly looks good, it handles like a bat out of hell, its quick, the interior is great, the seats are comfterable as [freak], not to mention black with red stiching looks uber baller. I got the navi package, and the navi lady is a [pejorative] and a half lol, mine came with the summer tires also, and the locking lugs were on it from the factory
overall its a great car. I'd recomend it to anybody.

buy the car...drive it...period. it is a great car. i still haven't gotten my 3rd gear fixed (and may not be able to), you won't have to worry about it with the 08. there really isn't much to complain about. sure, a little extra power would be nice, but it is a very well sorted car. it handles great from the factory, and if you want a little extra, get the hfp. the brakes are pretty good (much better than my ep3). one thing i don't much care for is the amount of light the headlights put out. it could use some hids. i got the si 37,000 miles ago, i got it at 4 miles, and every time is get in the car, it makes me smile. -vtec feels wonderful by the way. you will have the real thing. no more living in envy of the real vtec. my 5year old daughter heard the engine crossing over to vtec one day and asked me..."daddy, what's that sound?" me-"what sound?" her-"i don't know, it sounds like music." the radio was off. get the car.

I bought an SI about a little less than a year ago, I have had absolutely no problems except for the crappy clear coat. Other then that, no squeeking, clunking, no unusual interior wear, and never had a problem with rev hang or the infamous 3rd gear problem.
The car is fun everytime you put the key in the ignition. Gets good gas mileage and is just pure sexiness even stock.
YOU CANT BEAT IT FOR THE PRICE RANGE AND EVERYTHING ELSE JUST FALLS SHORT. You will see, just test drive all your other cars first then get in the SI.
I garuntee you will make your mind up the first time you feel the small sporty leather steering wheel with radio controls, pop that smooth buttery clutch and rip it to redline.

I say get the Si! I bought mine on May 7th, I was torn between the Si, GSR and another F-Body.. Glad I went with the Si Sedan NBP! I had driven older Civics *05 and back*, I also drove 06 Coupe, 08 Coupe, 07 Sedan, and 2x 08 sedans. I ended up with an 08 with Summer Tires! I say get it with summer tires unless your area snows during the winter time!

I just bought a white 2008 Si Sedan today and have to wait till next week to get it(waiting on my dealership to get a white one),but i must say the demo I had today was really fun to drive. If I were you,I'd opt for the HFP suspension package. My wife's 07 galaxy grey EX Sedan has the full HFP suspension package and 18inch HFP wheels and it handles like it's on rails.
