Default overheating

5th gen w/165K mi

I was driving home and I see my temp. gauge going up for the first time since I bought the car...

When I got home I checked under the hood and noticed the following:

1.) Heard a hissing noise like there is a leak

2.) Smelled coolant

3.) Look under the car and noticed coolant dripping

Could I be low on coolant causing it to overheat?
or do I have a leak somewhere?
