Default need some input..

This car will be a daily driver for the next few years at least...

notice: Daily driver (pump gas)

have a hatch that with a distributor that is throwing codes for fun at times... so... this is a bit sooner than I planned, but I think it's time to swap...

I already have a 94 b18c1 (all torn down... threw a bearing) with an LS crank that I picked up pretty cheap...

what I was looking at was doing a mild build up, something to the effect of:

ls crank
rs machine cast itr
ls rod (arp rod bolts)
stock head (for the time being..)
chipped ecu (to be tuned)

Then I started to consider the cost of picking up a dizzy, machine work (letting the professionals take care of the rebuild), etc...

Then I had the thought to pick up a jdm b20, sell the gsr block and any decent components, and keep the gsr head and build it for a b20vtec...

I'm thinking cost wise, the b20 route will be more efficient.. I already have a p28 that I would get chipped and then get the car tuned, so I would need to pick up integra mounts (do I just need the timing side? I've heard I need all new, I've heard just timing side) , motor, and trans..

I know some of you have some good informed opinions... if you could give me your thoughts, it would be appreciated!

thanks!

I think that a B20VTEC would be much, much better than a GSR. For no particular reason.

I also thing that there are way too many posts by people who can't make up their own f@#&ing mind. The information is available-research the topic and make a f@#&ing decision.

You already have a gsr block, use the ls crank and rods, which are the same as a B20, bore your gsr block out to 82mm, get some RS machine 82mm pistons and you'll be fairly close to a 1.9L. Use the money you would have spent on buying a b20 block and a b20/vtec conversion kit, and send your head to "combustion contraption" for some head work It'll keep up, if not be faster than a b20vtec w/out head work.

pretty much this.^^ The extra 2mm is nice I guess, but you can easily make more power with that money other ways than switching out something you already had. However you will probably see better results faster from buying cams rather than porting your head. (sorry cc)
