Default Problems when braking

So ive used the search button and mostly found things to do with the rear brake conversions and things having to do with best brake pads

Problem

i recently picked up the hatch, and i'm soon to change my brake pads since they're going back. But i also been having an issue when im braking the brake peddle keeps going in and i have to pump it to bring it back up. This is very annoying but also when im at a hill type stop the car doesnt brake too well and will start to slip after awhile due to having to pump the brake. I'm sure this is a very easy fix but i wanted to make sure i take the right steps

its most likely a brake master cylinder correct?

Just replaced my master cylinder 2 weeks ago for the same reason. $45 at Kragen for a remanufactured one (was gonna buy a rebuild kit but it actually cost more than the remanufactured one). 5 bolts/nuts total. 30 minutes worth of work. Problem fixed.
