Minimum fuel level for auto-x
I've auto-x'd with the gas needle just above E without problems before, but I'm doing a multi-region event next weekend and really want to pull out all the stops. (Finally using R tires, removing rear seat and keeping fuel low).
Has anyone ever found the exact point in a GSR where there's not enough gas and the pump goes dry on a turn?
Thanks.

Different people have had different things happen. The best thing that will happen is that you save about 10lbs in fuel. The worst is sputtering during your runs.
I still recommend that you run the fuel just before the gas light comes on. That way you'll be sitting at about 3 gallons.

Actually, I had the problem in Peru for the National Tour. Day one I was on just above E to right on E. Second day I was Hair below E. Goin through a high speed sweeper (60MPH) the engine starved then recovered as soon as I settled the car. I was running 225 Hoosiers and VERY grippy concrete. Probably wouldn't have happened if I was on street tires... Moral of the story is : I will always run right above/on E from now on! never below

Depends on the track..
I've ran with the fuel light on and had no trouble.. and I've run with 1/4 tank and had fuel starvation..
so I always run with about 1/3 to 1/2 tank.
FUEL starvatation will ruin a a set of laps more than 10-20lb more in your car
I always error on have more gas..

Figure gas weighs less than water and water weighs about 8lbs per gallon, so guessing gas weighs about 6-7lbs/gallon. If your tank holds 12 gallons and you run with 3 gallons: 12*6=72lbs, and 3*6=18... 72-18=54lbs you are saving.
But for track days I always run a full tank (got 20mpg at VIR intead of 30mpg), and for autocross I run 1/4 tank, and keep an extra 2 gallons of gas with me at events.

Anything with long fast sweepers, especially right handers better have at least 1/4 tank. It happened to me several times, and it would not recover. The motor stalled and I had to restart the motor.

.....at my last local autox I ran (as I have many times in the past with no problems) with the gas light on.
This past time, on my first run the car actually shut off and I coasted through the last long sweeper and slalom only to crank her back up and wot through the finish. This was on street tires and stock suspension, btw.....
Up to that point, my run was feeling PERFECT - probably the best first run I've ever had autoxing.

GSR tanks have baffles. ITR's don't.
I guess I will aim for just above E and have 5 gallons of fuel waiting on the sidelines. I don't think I've ever autocrossed with more than 1/4 tank. Haven't had a problem yet (200+ runs later...).
Thanks again.

You ran an autoX on E and didnt have a problem? Damn I ran out of fuel when I was on E taking a tight on ramp... lol completed the 270 degree turn and suddenly had no power for a few seconds.
I'll jump back in here too... Unless I'm an idiot an accidentally fill the car, I try to always be just above "E"...
Going to the gas station on the way to an event can be amusing...
"Could I get $2.00 of super please?"
They look at me a little strange sometimes... then again... I could just be strange looking.
