Default I may Have found My Problem !!!!!!!!

Whats going on members..... I had posted a while ago about my car making a clicking noise in 3rd and 4th gear under 4,000 RPM.... I think I narrowed down the issue to my axels, correct me if I am wrong... now is the axel suppose to have play in them or no, I was under my car and grabed my axel on the shaft part and I could move it about 1/2 an inch in and out, shouldnt the axel be tight and have no movement when pushed in and out.

Thank you

they can have some play but not too much, 1/2 is ok I guess if they have too much play they can produce a vibration on acceleration ussually around 55 and 65 mph.

there is no vibration at 55 + mph, could that cause a clicking noise while driving, but when the wheel is turned it stops ??
