Default Speedometer issues and weird noise

I just got my car back from getting a new clutch and after about a week or 2 the speedometer starts bein weird and now it just sits around 15-20 if it moves aat all. also my car is making a weird high pitched kinda grinding noise. idk if these 2 things r linked together but they happened at the same time. i hope there is a cheap solution to this. all these problems r leaving my wallet a lil empty

an axle popped out, although the shaft may still be in the hole its not in all the way check both sides and make sure they are in all the way!

could be but it sounds more like an axle becuase if the car is in gear it wont move because the axle isnt in the splines, also it would cause the speedo to say that it is moveing even though it is not

the axles popping out will cause the spedo to stop working?
i was unaware that the VSS was reading from the axle...
I think not

think about it, if the axle isnt in, and the car is in gear and the clutch is engaged it is just like the car is moving (at 1k rpm or whatever it is idling at) therefore the vss will think that the axle is spinning even though it is not because the axle popped out, this would cause the speedo to sit at 10-20mph depending which gear its in
i think so

yes because to change a clutch you must pop the axles out of the tranny, when they get put back in you should replace the snap ring on the tip, i'm sure he didnt so it didnt stay clipped in place causing it to pop out. it happened to me, i installed a pair of used axles and on the first test drive it drove fine for about 15 mins, then just once when i shifted gears it wouldnt move, i coasted home and looked at it and sure enough the axle wasnt all the way in the tranny.

if you decide to do it yourself first you need to see which side is slid out (probably the passenger side) you will need to be able to disconnect the lower ball joint and pound the axle back in all the way (use the hub for momentum) make sure its all the way in and use an impact wrench to put the nut on the ball joint, you should be all set!

refer to honda-tech FAQ's for help!
