cranks, spark, fuel, no start, crx rebuild engine b16 turbo
all right guys i just bult a b16a engine up, set the block out for hoan and decking, port and polish head, new valve, springs, gaskets, eagle rods, wilsco pistion, set gap on rings, torqued every thing to specs, yada yada yadah. i just put all this into my crx, converted every thing to obd1, car work with diff swap befor this new set up, had obd1 added with diff- set and worked, now i ran into a snag, car cranks over, has spark, fuel, comprssion, 135psi to 15psi. fire order is 1-3-4-2, timming is correct i think, set crank to white set cam to tdc, need help, using p28 ecu.... been at this for the last 2 weeks
Probably a long shot but how long did the car sit before the swap? If it sat for too long the gas could be bad, especially if the fuel lines were open. It's happend to me on 2 different cars. They both sat for over a year though...
well the car sat for about 3 month now, i put about another 2gal into the thank just incase it might be out of gas, the main relay i check as well with a know good one, the car turns over, sound line it going to start but dosent.. i bet i got the ? of the year on this.

this is what I would do...

well i think even a tooth off you can just turn the distributor and it would still fire it may not run that great... but its a start from him not having it run at all..
check your grounds be sure there right.
could even be the little stupid ground that goes from the front radiator brace to the head bolt.
as sherlock holmes would say "look for the most obvious of the unobvious"

well i check my grounds, i even added more just to be safe, timming is still right on the nose, I didnt have a timming gun to check it though, grounds on the thermostat are on to as well. when i get a chance again, ill adjust the diz, if that dosent work do you thing the wire harness may of gone bad, that the same harness i used the the ls set up i just added the vtec wires. ill ask a budy to see if i can use his car harness to swap...
all right so i gave it a shot and swith over the harnesses and still nothing, turned over but didnt start, the only difference was my fuel pressure. cranking the engine over pressure was fine, as soon as i stoped pressure droped quick, no exturnal leak notice, so im thing the cyl are full of fuel, i dont know why my buddy harness did that and mine didnt..... well next step im thinking of doing is a new diz......and have my budy start up his car with my harness... what do you guys think....
135 psi on compression??
thats kinda low dude
it should be 180 psi
ithink 135 is the minimum
if you have spark and fuel then check your timing
on the crank line it up to the white mark and make sure that your cam gears and are pointing up when the white make lines up on the crank
when i checkmy compression it was 135 and the i check the timing and the cam gears where facing down so i turnD them around to face up and my car started right up.
do a wet test after you check the timing again
if the compression goes up after the wet test then your rings are bad
just add a spoon full of oil in to the cylinder(take off all the spark plugs) and check the compression one by one and if it goes up then its the rings

Are you just trying to start a built engine on a stock ecu? I’m sure if you built a turbo motor you put bigger injectors in there, OBD1 is set up for saturated injectors and your car came with peak and hold, you have to set up the injectors. Also I would track down all the sensors and make sure the harness is plugged in right.

well the injector im using are bigger, u used them befor with the first build and started up fine, but i thougt that could be also a posibility so i switched them out for smaller 270injector and still the same effect, i trippled check the timming, that was fine, but will new ring be bad out of the box, cuz i did the the wet test and compression did go up to 180psi and higher. im going to check the ground on the harness next my buddy is to drop off a tester. thanks for the help guys.
well im going to try dizzy first cuz i thought it would still start as long as the compression is not under 90psi..... damn more money down the drain.... and get a different harness....
Timing. guaranteed.
remove distro, slap it on another car, see if it starts. if it does, then you know the distro is good.
Also, do you know for sure each injector is firing?
test that, test each injector. pop one into a cup and crank over the engine, if you see fuel, then you know.

Bringing this back Alive, as i'm having the same problem.
1. Got spark
2. Got fuel
Car cranks, wants to start but falls short. even after moving the dizzy slightly back and forth. OOH another thing the throttle body sounds like's it's farting and on cranking the engine sometimes it get's like stuck and continues to turn, (vroom vroom vroom STUCK vroom stuck vroom) wtf?
