Default Comptech 4-2-1, J's intake

Any difference between the Comptech 4-2-1 TIG and MIG version besides the welds?

Anyone have pictures of a MIG version?

Anyone dyno the J's intake yet??

TIG welds are stronger and more attractive.

I think they polish the TIG welded one too. I think TIG is done by hand by a person versus MIG is done by a machine.....Spill the beans Edwin...spill the beans.

can see pics at: http://solar.innercite.com/comptech/header8.html

According to Mike @ Comptech, no performance difference.

Very few people run the J's but I would get that over my AEM in a flash if there were proven gains from it.

MIG welds are not weaker than TIG welds unless poorly done. It always bugs me to see people griping about MIG welds. Yes, they are uglier, and can't be used on really thin metal, but they aren't weaker.

MIG welds are not always weaker than TIG welds. Really depends on the guy doing the TIG welds skill level. It will NOT rust or crack any faster than the TIG header(don't know where that came from?). The MIG welded one is just a buget version of the header. They have the same specs and use the same material. One is basically hand made and polished(TIG) vs. Machine welded(I think)(MIG) and un finished...hence cheaper.

JohnnyBoy - Who used to be REALLY **** about the TIG welds on his mountain bike

Err, oh yeah, the original poster wanted to know about the J's intake. I have one on my car. They only had the cf one in stock, so that's what I got. Err. It sucks air in, and it's made of cf.

The main reason I got it was to get an intake with a nice big filter on the end of it, and no more CAI, because I pick up all sorts of crap since I have no wheel well covers.

The car still moves when I hit the throttle. Other than that? I can't notice any difference.
