Which bushings to go Poly for a DD?
I have a 97 Civic EX Coupe with about 151K miles on it. I am looking to replace those 11 year old rubber bushings with some poly bushings. But I do have a concern with running the poly bushings; will they hard or rough for a DD?
I am looking at purchasing a set of motor mount inserts since they are not included in the master kits. I can’t decide on which company to go with; Energy Suspension ($145) or Porthane ($280)?
Also which Motor mount kit would be ideal to go with also?

you do not want to do the engine mounts at least not all of them, the car will vibrate and buzz to bad.....if my memory if right you only want to to the rear motor mount if any....if you do the suspension and you go energy suspension get the black, they are impregnated with graphite to redue the squeaking
If you read through the thread, and take some general knowledge away from it, it will answer what youre looking for. You have to look at more than the first two sentences.
Inserts are no different.

Ok, I do understand that Poly bushings have plus’s and minus’. I know they will tighten up the car movements and by doing this, it cause some new vibrations.
But, what I am seeking is within each kit; What is different about them? Which kit should I get for my car?
For the suspension:
Energy Suspension Hyperflex kit or Prothane Urethane Suspension Bushing kit
I am not sure which suspension kit to get; they look like they cover the same parts but why the $100+ pricing difference? How are the hardness’ different between the two kits?
For Motor mount inserts:
Energy Suspension or Prothane
Is there a difference in the inserts and locations? Also which motor mount kit is better? How different is the D16 mounted when comparing to B18 from an Integra? I found this image and it shows both kits overlaid on each other and each kit only duplicate 1 mount.

Never tried the Prothane ones, but I put 180,000 miles on a set of ES motor mount inserts in my old EG and loved every mile.
When I swiched to my new car with no inserts, it felt, and still feels, as if the drivetrain is unattached to the car. There is no "feel" from the front end and the whole assembly is flopping around like a dead fish in the engine compartment if you're using the upper end of the RPM range.
I will say, I don't know if I see the need for the timing belt cover and tranny mounts in a DD. These are essentially pivot points for the drivetrain. The inserts in the rear and lower front mounts are what dampen it's movement as opposed to carrying it's weight.

Re: the suspension kits, I have used both of those.
ES bushings, you remove the shells with the bushings, replace only with bushings. Most wore well, but the upper front control arm bushings were shot within about 2 years.
Prothanes, the busings come with a new shell to install with the bushing. Much more stock design and much harder polyurethane, but are more difficult to install.
