Default how to remove carb

how do you remove built up carb on the valves? i took the head off and was in the process of doing a mini me swap. just looking for some pointers.

i don't know if seafoam works with the head off....if the head is already off i rather use some carb cleaner and a brilo pad...

today is the day i will be attacking the carbon build up. i will try both carb cleaner and the seafoam. wish me luck!
