Could be a few things. Basically it's hesitation correct? Lumpy like rpm sounds?

I had a problem that was close to this. It's usually something ignition related. I suspected a rare problem of an injector going bad. I was pulling my plugs/wires out just to double check and saw that my #1 plug had oil in it. Turns out my valve cover seal was letting oil leak into the #1 plug cylinder and causing the spark to transfer from the plug. Resealed the valve cover and cleaned up the plug hole and problem solved. Though I do need to get new plug wires now since I'm sure the wire needs to be replaced from being soaked.

But I'd check spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor (housing and rotor), and see if you find anything in those.

Check your cam timing. My car was doing the same ****. Bogging till 3000 then as soon as it got to 3000 it would take off. Turned out my cam jumped a tooth.
