head gasket
so im doing a mild build on my b16 head and so far i have brain crower stage 2 na camshaft along with tianium dual valve springs and retainers.. i was talking to some people and the said i would need to get a new head gasket to boost up my comperssion.. so i was looking and i found out that there is a whole variety of head gasket out there.. anyone know which one will be best for my set up
I don't think a .+2/+3 bump in compression is going to "allow" you to run your cams, or for that matter any camshaft. You need to replace your head gasket if you take your cylinder head off to do the VT/cam swap, not because you're upgrading to the larger profile.
oh.. for my mods already i have aem cold air intake, skunk2 intake manifold, 2.5 straight pipe, comptech usa header, act clutch and flywheel.. i have the brian crower daul valvespings and the camshaft already.. what elese do i need besides valve stem.. the question is what kind of head gasket to use since there so many different kinds.. Thanks clean rice you seem like you know what your talking about.. thumbs up
If you have that already, look into engine management. As for HG, Spoon/Mugen/Cometic/stock with middle layer removed will work. But again, this is only necessary if you remove your head from the block. After all of this, your next mod will be upgrading your header as the Comptech manifold is pretty restrictive.(not the "race" header.) Aftermarket valves are also not mandatory, but are a good idea if the cylinder head has over 100k on it.

so i was looking at some and there are different kinds out there... whats the differences between bore sizes? and how does the difference in thickness play a role in the head gasket?
oh okay.. since i dont have any over sized pistons i would be looking for a standard size head gasket, and the thickness i want would be something around the .5mm to .7mm right?
