i used a fram filter on it about 4000 miles ago and i noticed it today. I checked around the filter and there is oil around that. anybody else ever had one of these filters blow or start randomly leaking?

 

You sure its ur filter, and not ur rear main seal throwing oil all around..?? Or possibly the filter being loose..?? Or maybe even your oil pressure sensor been removed and not put back in correctly..?? I'd say clean it all up, and jack the car up and check for leaks... Than if that doesnt work, while its clean take it for a quick spin around the block and put it back up on stands and check it out again... Oil filters rarely ever just start spewing oil out like that....

 

i agree with him oil filters really do just throw out a bunch of oil.....

 

did you check and make sure you didnt double gasket it?

 

Did you lub the seal when installed? make sure it's tight.

 

did the rubber gasket from the old filter get stuck?
