Default What now? All my brake lights in the back stay on when the car is off

Well, one thing after another, this car is a little pain in the *** already.

Just happened right now, when I got home broad day light, did not have to use any of the lights, turned off the car, set the alarm, and as I was walking up, my trash can behind the car was lighted red. I look back there and all my brake lights are on like the brake pedal is depressed.

I pressed the brake pedal again, nothing, turned on all the lights and back off, nothing. I basically had to disconnect the battery.

Atleast I know my brake lights still work, but what would make them stay on? Brake light switch stuck closed? Where would I find the brake switch?

Any help would be gladly appreciated.

Found out what it was, it was this little rubber piece that broke off, and is no longer pushing on the button that brake pedal is suppose to press into.

When you're not pressing the pedal the little bushing presses against the button to turn off your brake lights. When pushing the pedal, the lights turn on. Pretty weird, but makes sense

Well I ended up using a bolt and a nut that one of the guys did on the link you suggested haha.

Thanks a ton man, works like a charm, I was worried that metal to metal might harm it, but the button is to soft for that, as long as I don't release the brake pedal fast and make it slam on there
