Engine Swap Questions
I own a 1995 del sol s with a b18b1 swap in it...the swap is on stock b18 motor mounts...my buddy owns a 1995 prelude with an h22a1 in it...he is selling his car and we were wondering if it's possible to swap the engines around...mine into his and vise versa...is this possible and if it is can we do it without spending any money...all opinions will help
You definitely wouldn't be able to do it without spending money. To put the H22A1 into your Del Sol, you're need aftermarket mounts (no stock ones work), as well as axles (the B-series, D-series, & H-series axles won't work). Putting a B18B1 into his Prelude would be a whole new set of problems on it's own. First off it'd be a huge decrease in horsepower and much needed torque. Second, no one makes a mount kit to put a B-series engine into one, so he'd have to have custom mounts fabricated for him. Third, the Prelude has a cable transmission while the B-series is hydraulic; you'd have to find a way to rig it up. Forth, if he actually did that to the car, no one would want to buy it from him; or he's have to reduce the price greatly (might as well give it away at that point).
The B20's in the older Preludes are completely different from the B20's in CR-V's. There's nothing like the other B-series engines either (other than the B21's, also from older Preludes).
