Accessory belts won't stay on
This is a very annoying problem for me... I recently built an all motor D16y8, revving to about 8000 rpm. I don't know if it's too high revs, or damaged pulleys, or what... Just seeing if others have had similar problems.
Just weeks after finishing my build, my power steering belt (outermost belt) got thrown off while driving (not hard, just around town). I didn't bother replacing it, because no ps didn't really bother me much. I removed my AC, so the next belt on my crank pulley is my alternator belt (innermost belt). Just a few days after the ps belt was thrown off, my alternator belt was thrown. Obviously, I had to relace it. So I did, and two days later, got thrown off again. At that point I thought, 'maybe I'm just an idiot and can't put on an accessory belt'. So, I took it to a local mechanic, and had them replace the alternator belt, yet again. They told me the pulleys appeared to be lined up just fine, but the belt only lasted one day after they replaced it.
I'm tired of wasting money on accessory belts; this is futile. Any ideas on what needs to be done here?

Are the belts rubbing against anything? Do you have the correct belts? Are the pulleys on tight or properly? The mechanic isn't going to spend any more time than a visual check to see if everything looks okay and I would assume the mechanic put the proper amount of tension on the belts but you never know. Maybe the tension bolt keeps coming loose.
either wrong belt or not enough tension on the belt, or u didn't tighten up your bolts good enough...when i do i usually get about a 2 foot pry bar and put it between the alternator and the alternator braket, then i sightly pull back until i feel that it's tight and tighten down the both bolts pretty good....

That's exactly what I've been doing. That's why I'm lost.
The belt doesn't appear to be rubbing against anything. I got the bolts from the dealership, so they should be correct, and I'm tightening them down pretty well.
I am using generic belts from Kragen... Could that be it? What's the oem belt brand? Another culprit, I suppose, could be that my pulleys have rough, rusted surfaces. I seriously doubt that's the case, because I've driven cars with pulleys in much worse condition...
Has anyone had issues with Kragen belts. The ones I've been using are Goodyear Gatorback, part number 4040315 for the alternator.
Also, just to clarify, there's no tensioner on the alternator belt, is there? I've just been using the slider bracket as the tensioner.
