Default is it compression?

Ok before anyone just tells me to test it i DO NOT HAVE A COMPRESSION TESTER. but i do have symptoms. When my car is cold it has all kinds of power i mean barkem in 3rd kinds of power but once my car gets warmed up it losses tons of power (only sometimes) i have lost so much before i got stomped by a civic lx 96 once and that is unacceptable and other times i can outrun mustang gt's with ease. so what is the deal anyone know?

probably why your motor is dieing.

what do you want us to do? email you a compression tester? say, "yes, your engine is losing compression because you say it is?"

go to autozone or some auto parts store and buy a compression tester then test your compression.

your a real douchebag arent you? if you dont have anything productive to say but just sit there and bash people on the internet because they cant reach you then you should really get a life....

anyway i was asking if anyone knew of any other things could cause this. there are also alot of loose wires under my steering colom near where the main relay is and there are 5 connectors that dont go to anything so maybe it is something electronic or a problem with the ecu?

any help or suggestions would be appreciated but if your just gonna be a little "internet gangster" than i can do without your comments

Dude just get a compression tester and do it yourself. You also need to tell someone what engine you have because an H23 will have lower compression than a H22. Ya know? Have you ever even changed your sparkplugs b4? If not, you might not want to try this at home. Also, the quickest way to not get help on HT is to call the mod a douchebag too. Good luck homeboy....

First thing I would do man is to check your compression like they said. We cant do much without that. Thats the first step I would take. Post the results and go from there. While your doing this I would check out your plugs. Wiresm cap and rotor are another easy thing to check out. Check the obvious stuff first, hopefully its just something minor.

yeah i put ngk iridiums in there about 7 months ago and i looked at em recently they are fine and the wires are even newer. the dizzy on the other hand has been on there for as long as i have had it (2 years) and who knows how long b4 that. does anyone know how much a compression tester runs?

Also i dont care if someone is a mod or not the point of a forum (generally) is to help people not to make them feel like an idiot.

But i dont really know much about dizzy's ive never messed with one except to hook up new wires so what would i be looking for if something was wrong with it?

p.s. its and h23 i thought i put that up there earlier.

If the engine performs better when cold, then it's not a compression problem as rings seal better when the engine is hot. Same reason why the engine should be hot when performing a compression check.

Lol, he said 98vtec is a douchbag, haha.

Id say its not comp, like JT said.

Id say its your ECU. P13's have that issue when the car gets warmed up. For some unknown reason.

What I would do is have someone build me a new ecu. And stay away from the P13's in general.

Its not too comon, but I know my butt dyno, picks that up sometimes, and its head scratching weird.

Now for the bogging, that might be related, or it might not be, I dont know, much other than what I read.

But as for the ECU, there is a dude on preludepower.com that makes these ECUs that I speak of. I will be picking one up at a later date, once I finally get around to working on my lude.

Heres his profile, he can make you one, for like 200 bucks or something like that. http://preludepower.com/forums...94448

Hope that helps.

wanna know the possible answers since you arent giving us anything to help you with?

knock sensor
o2 sensor
Map sensor
IAT sensor
ECT sensor
TPS sensor
EGR
fuel filter

I could name about 10-20 other things that could cause your situation. Your asking something so broad of a topic and asking us (over the internet) how to fix something when we dont know what all you have done to the engine, what maintenance has been performed, how many miles are on the engine, what you did to the car before it started acting up. Get where i am coming from?

yes, the point of the forum is to help. But we cannot help you when there are 100 different answers which could fix your problem and pretty much all you have said is that you think you are losing compression because the engine performs better when its cold.

Ok? what do you want us to do with this information?

ok well here are all the things i have done to the motor (which doesnt cover the first 180k of its life)
ngk spark plugs and an intake.
i change the oil more often than is needed and i change sparks more often than needed
i just changed tranny fluid last week and flushed the radiator.
it has always done this but only does it when it is hot outside and only some days not always.
i have not done anything to the electronics of the car but it has all kinds of random wires hanging around under the steering collom that have been there since i got the car.
i do know that it is generally way faster than a stock lude and it has 230k miles on it.
also the wires under the colom have 5 connectors that dont go to anything and the main relay is brown instead of black.
it has a fuse spot for 4ws but doesnt have it (?) and some times it wont start up the first try it will die back down and you have to turn the ignition back and forth a few times until you hear the fuel pump kick in. then it will start instantly (like after 1 crank)
it gets a massive boost in power at 2.5 grand and then it feels like it has vtec at 5 grand but i know the block is h23 because it says so on the block.
i havent looked at the cams because i cant get the head off the gasket has basicly glued it on.
when its cold its idle bounces like the pcv is unplugged
and the brake master cylinder is going out. shortly after i got the car i had to replace the tie rods and the water pump
and my rear sway bar is completly torn out of the frame on the left side of the vehicle.
it runs an 1/8 of a mile in 10.7 (without reaction time its 10.3)seconds at ~68 mph and needs a new clutch and syncro's.
its lights on the a/c control dont work sometimes and the lights behind the tach and speedometer flicker ever so slightly dimmer and brighter when its iddling but not when its revved past 2k.
it iddles at 1k most of the time and the iddle adjustment screw does nothing.
its doors with electronicly unlock but not lock.
the latch for the hood was broken but has been fixed
the hood has massive fadeing in the paint like the motor gets stupidly hot but the temp gauge always shows middle
sometimes the speedometer jumps around randomly from 5-15 mph faster than im really going
i had to replace the wheel barring in the right rear wheel about 3 months after i got the car
and it has sony xplodes in it but no subs because i dont like the weight

thats all that is messed up with this car that i can remember right now. its a manual h23 94 si

I know I'm not helping, but I think we would all appreciate it if you would sell your Prelude and stop posting.
