How do I replace the speed sensor?
My g/f's friend has a CB7 & the speedometer is not working at times. I think her ex took it out b/c he wanted to put a new face gauge cluster but broke the needle & had to use the another one...or something like that. But anyway, where is the speed senor located & how do I replace it. Heard it was pretty easy to do.
if you look straight down in front of the throttle body and behind he transmission you will see it. It is just a rod that comes out of the tranny with a plug on top. It can be troublesome if you don't know what your doing. But its just three bolts and thats it. But you said her ex broke the needle??? If so then it would not be the vss (vehicle speed sensor)
If there's no CEL it's not the speed sensor it's the cluster.
If the car has cruise control and it works it's not the VSS either
If you are for sure about it being the VSS it is right on top of the tranny - 2 bolts and it'll come out
