wobbling when in vtec
hi guys, im driving a civic ek. Recently when i revved my car into vtec (regardless of any gears), the front end of my car will start to wobble. Went to my mechanic and nth was found wrong with my undercarriage n axles. Suspected to be the wheels and tires, so i went to change to a new set of tires n have them balanced and the prob is still tere. No wobbling at high speed cruising, it will only start when i hit vtec and wobbles all the way to redline. N funny thing was i hit vtec (started to wobble) on 2nd gear n revved it to 8k rpm, the speedo needle will malfunction n went back to the 0mph position, den i shifted up to 3rd (wobbling stopped as outside vtec zone) and cruise normally at ard 55mph, after abt 3sec, the speedo needle will suddenly jump back to the speed (55mph) that i was crusising at. Dunno if the wobbling had caused the speedo needle to behave like that. Any kind guys can help me on this? Thks..
This really doesn't make sense at all. There's no way that vtec can make your car shake. Take it to a different shop and have them look over your suspension and steering, check your alignment etc. I don't really know what to tell you other than that.
You sure you don't have a turbocharger installed? Those can make the front end shake violently at upper RPMs
Seriously though, something with the transmission? Sounds like its affecting your VSS vehicle speed sensor.

the shaking happens to all Honda's when VTAK engages.
but on a serious note, i had the same prob. i changed my VSS and had an alignment done. also check your steering components, i had to change my rack and pinion. as for the speedo, i have no idea

vss will affect the wobbling of the car when engaging vtec? my steering wheel did not wobble or vibrate, only the front end of the car wobble, feel abit like boucing effect. Hopefully will solve it tmr when i go for a alignment seesion. Thks guys..

Ya, initially suspected to be the mounts. But my mechanic checked it to be in good working condition. Nevertheless, will get it checked again. Thks.
if your mounts are fine and you have changed the tires... id say take a serious look at your suspension components. It may not be wobbling when you are not in vtec cuz there is not as much power applied, but when it kicks in torque may be causing the problem
lol. if its not your mounts or axles you have the same problem i had. it only happens right when vtec kicks and you can feel the car bogging. I did everything you did too, turns out it was just an exhaust problem. I would check the exhaust if i were you. When i had that problem i figured it out by running straight header at the track to see if i can get a better time and boom the bog wasn't there so i'm running a new exhaust system and no more bogging. try running with just headers and see what happens. as for your vss try changing the vss if it still dies out that means you need a new cluster.
