Default 99-00 Floor Harness in 96-98(searched)

I am in the process of converting my 96-98 civic into power (windows/locks) and we have a donor 2000 civic si laying around the shop, so this is where I sourced up all my parts. Unfortunately was unable to get a 96-98 power floor harness (my car is a 1996 cx).

We have all the mechanical end of it swapped over and can get the windows to go up and down by touching a jump box to them. My question is can I use the ENTIRE INTERIOR HARNESS from the 2000 civic si and plug it into my 96 civic?

Anyone? It looks to all be the same kinda plugs as my factory 96 NON-power harness, except for one GREY plug at the front of the harness that is a little bit longer... ie:

[::.:.] 96-98 NON-power plug

[::.:.:::..] 99-00 SI plug

It still looks like it will plug in, it'll just be missing the end of it plugged in. Will this still work, or can I hardwire those couple wires?

Basically I want to know if and how I can make this 99-00 Civic SI harness work for my Power Conversion in my 96-98.

I did some simialar work a couple weeks ago. I had a 99 ex donor car that I bought and moved everything over to my 98 cx hatch. The floor harness is different at the front of the floor harness as well as the rear of the floor harness. For the rear plug I went color for color and soldered the 99 harness to the 98 plug. There are some wires left over for the rear wiper. For the rest of the car I had to move over every harness from my ex donor to my cx except the harness that leads to the domelight. So yes the entire interior harness will swap over with the exception of the harness that connects for the rear taillights. You have to move every harness over in the front 3 quarters of the car, including everything under the hood, or plan on some extensive cutting. There are some writeups on how to do power windows and doorlocks an easy way, not my route since I was moving the motor and dash over from the ex as well. If all you want is power windows and doorlocks your really better off sourcing the floor harness from a 96-98 from a salvage yard.

so wait, as far as the floor harness, ( im only doing power windows/locks/mirrors) on which ever plugs from the 2000 SI harness that dont plug directly into my 96-98 stuff I can just DIRECT color match my old plug onto the 2000 power harness and it will work? I dont need anything under the hood or thru the dash, nor do I need a rear wiper.

none of the plugs that originally came on your car should match the ones from the si. the front plug near the fuse box has to be cut off and your old plug has to be soldered in and also the rear which converts from one plug(si) to two (cx). Or like gmcawd said you would have to get a 96-98 harness. Or if you are really into meticulous work you could depin all your plugs and re-pin the new harness onto your old plug. The route that i took was cutting the wires and soldering onto my old plug, but i used 96-98 stuff on a 99, should be the same though.

I'd recommend using the 99-00 floor harness you have but cut everything that does not have to do with the power windows/locks/mirrors out of it. Make it a standalone harness to run your doors and that's it. When you put the doors on, just depin the speaker wires out of your factory plug and pin them back in your new floor harness. This makes doing it a lot easier and you don't have to worry about having the correct floor harness anymore.

can you elaborate?

I have this halfway done with this 99-00 harness so getting a 96-98 is out of the question, so can you pm me and let me know how I can get this done?

Or anyone who has working knowledge of using a 99-00 floor harness for my 96-98 power window conversion.

i just did this swap on my 96 dx hatch using a 00 ex coupe parts. you will have to swap out the front & rear connector. i believe most of it is just matching up wire for wire except for maybe a few. dont forget to grab the keyless entry control unit behind the left kicker panel.

Hey thanks for the respond...

Now can I just take the fuse box out of the 99-00 si to make things plug and play since the 99-00 floor harness im using wont plug into my 96-98 fuse box?

I have both a 99, and 98 fuse box laying around in the garage and they are the same, all the plugs are the same between the 98 and 99. Move over the relays and fuses that you need and you should be good. Have you hardwired the front and rear harness yet? I don't know if this has been mentioned but your locks won't work after your done splicing the harnesses to work w/out the keyless entry module.
