My 1990 Civic would not start the other day. I moved it from the street to the driveway. Then an hour later when I went to start the car it would crank but not start. I realized that the main relay wasn't clicking and the fuel pump wasn't going on. I figured the main relay went so I replaced it but still no luck. When I turn on the ignition I don't hear the relay or the pump going on. I have never had any problems like this before. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Well who cares about the sound, Brake the nut loose that attatches your fuel line to the fuel rail. If theres plenty in there(when car is off only!) then its Injectors. If theres no fuel there then check into a new fuel pump.

i will check this today. fyi the car was running fine an hour before. i shut it off and it wouldn't turn on again. couldn't there just be fuel stuck in there from before. does anyone else have suggestions.
Wow damn I was having this problem the other day too, very rarely my car doesn't start but it does turn over. Then the fuel pump doesn't sound but I do get the click from the relay. Best of luck to you!

well that isn't very helpful. Thanks anyways. Again my main relay isn't clicking.

Check the fuel line, Take off the one that goes to the fuel rail, empty it, hook it back up, prime the pump, get out, take the fuel line back off again. If its full and theres pressure, your problem is somewhere else.
And yes, stuff can just magically break. My old sentra, i moved it from the driveway to the road, went to drive it 3 hours later, wouldnt start. Ended up being the sparkplugs. Tons of build up on them. I know its not the same problem, but it illustrates, stuff can just happen all of a sudden.

my friend who is a honda technician stopped by today and suggested I take the main relay out of my running crx and try that. The new one may not be good either he suggests using one i know is good off a running car. I will be trying this tonight along with checking the fuel rail.
Let me know what you find out because i would be driving my car and all of a sudden my throttle would stop working and i would here clicking from my main relay and the car would lunge forward. i parked it later tried to start it and i got a rapid clicking from the main relay. it used to turn over now i have no turning over or fuel pump.

So I swapped in the relay from the running car and still nothing. The main relay is not turning and and thus the fuel pump isn't either. Someone please help. I believe the main relay is not getting power and I will begin testing for this tommorow.
i could be wrong, but you could have fried your fuel pump.
and if you have a fuel pump cut off switch (for anti-theft purposes) you may have fried the switch itself, or your wires came loose

no anti-theft swith. Would the main relay still click if the fuel pump went. Any procedure I should follow to check this??

Tested the power to he main using some info I found on this site. Also bench tested all 3 amin relays and they are fine. I am thinking the ECU is dead because the check engine light doesn't turn off after the ignition is turned on.
so you move your car from the street to the drive way, did you check if you have gas, if you low on gas and move it on the drive way gravity pull gas the the lowest point. check for power to the pump, spray brake cleaner in the throttle body while cranking the engine and see if it start. check for spark by connecting a spark plug to the spk plug wire and ground the plug by touching any thing metal on the car.
ahh dude im having the EXACT same problem. I just drove my car, got back in it, doesnt start. I changed my sparkplugs and tried it again still no luck. CHeck fuel pump theirs no sound or anything coming from fuel pump but where the fuel line runs the the fuel rail their is a clicking noise(im guessing thats the main relay) Haven't got any farther than that. If the main relay is clicking then it isn't bad. I even took my fuel pump that was on the car and put it on my other one and it works pefectly fine so I know its not my fuel pump either. IM out of luck on this too man. Idk.

Your main relay is inside the car.

Your fuel rail isn't inside your car with the main relay, that's why i assumed you thought it was under the hood. Yes, it clicks.

There's def gas in the car. At least a half tank. The main relay isnt going on so the pump isnt either. It's getting the correct power. Think the ECU might be bad.
